Side Effects Of Birth Control

There are many different ways in which a woman can either stop or begin taking the birth control because of the different side effects some may experience while on the pill. Different things like weight gain has a huge impact on women that try to look there best at all times.

Weight Gain

In 1992 there was a study done by a French review board saying that some pills have higher doses of estrogen then others, and this is what can cause the weight gain. Almost twenty-five percent of women that were reported stopping the pill did so because of the weight they gained while on the pill. The report also said that many of the women had increased sexual experience while on the pill as well, because they did not have the fear of pregnancy at the time. Also there was an increase in vaginal lubrication from the estrogen within the pill as well. On the other hand there were also some women that reported lower sexual experience, and a reduce in libido within there body because of the pill.

Depression

Another type of side effect that may come from being on the pill is a sort of depression, the depression comes from the serotonin, which is a low dose neurotransmitter. This observation along with many studies conducted by the British, have linked together that the pill can cause depression. Progestin only contraceptives have been studies, and have been proven to actually make depression in already depressed females actually worse then before.

Other Side Effects

A few other side effects that may result from the pill have been things like vaginal secretions, irregular bleeding, breast tenderness, and some may even get acne from the pill as well. Many studies that the french have done, have shown that the progestin, and estrogen in the pill that cause the vulva to be more lubricated during sexual intercourse have caused the problems like vaginal secretion because of the increase in the estrogen. These side effects occur on a rare occasion, and have not been reported on a regular basis, but these effects can happen.
