Male Birth Control
When it comes to males, and birth control there is not really that much that a male can do to help prevent the women from becoming pregnant when compared to the products that are offered for a women to take. The only real thing a male may do is use a barrier, like a condom.
Many males around the globe use the condom, which is a barrier method, in order to help prevent there partner from becoming pregnant. The benefits of the male condom do not just stop at preventing pregnancy, but also the condom prevents the transfer of STD’s (Sexually Transmitted Diseases). Many doctors recommend using the condom even if the woman, is using a oral contraceptive like the birth control pill, because the condom will help protect from any disease.
There are other things that males can do as well, like undergo a surgical procedure that will inhibit the flow of the sperm from the testicles to the penis. This procedure is called a vasectomy, a vasectomy nowadays can be done without using a scalpel, and virtually no pain at all, thanks to the advances in modern technology. In this process many doctors will go in through the male scrotum, and cut or block the tube that carries the sperm from the testicles to the penis. This process is always 100% effective, and can most likely not be reversed, although some doctors can reverse it but the process is extremely painful.
In the recent boom of technology there is also a male oral contraceptive that has been undergoing testing to see if it can also kill the sperms effectiveness in males as well as females. The male contraceptive is in its thrid stage of human tests as of right now, and should be out for purchase late in the year of 2010, that is if the product is proven to work, and is safe for males to take as well.
