Birth Control Types
There are many different types of birth control out there for people to use to help prevent the fertilization process from sexual intercourse. Not all people choose the same thing, a lot of people use different things in the world in order to prevent the pregnancy.
One of these types of birth control out there that have become very popular in the past years is commonly called “The Pill”, which is the birth control pill. This is a oral contraceptive in which women take to throw off there reproductive track, so that they cannot get pregnant. This pill cannot just be bought at any local drug store, you must have a prescription for it, because of the effects it has on your body. Different women were said to have different side-effects while on the pill, ranging from simple weight gain, to irregular bleeding. The weight gain is mainly contributed to the estrogen, and the progestin within the hormonal pill, that causes the non-pregnancy.
Another type of birth control that has become more popular in the younger population is the patch. The patch is almost the same thing as the oral contraceptive, the only difference in this is that you place the patch on your body. The patch is designed to release, the same two chemical, estrogen, and progestin, into the body when the patch is applied. So it works just as the oral pill does, but you just place the patch on your body, and its usually good for a week. Most women start on the patch at the beginning on there menstrual cycles, and change during the weeks.
A method that has become more popular in the older population is known as the physical methods, which include different procedures for men, and women to undergo in order to prevent pregnancy permanently. The male procedure is called a vasectomy, this is the process in which a doctor will cut open the scrotum of the male patient, and cut, or block the tube from the testicles to the penis in which carry the sperm. In the female the process is commonly called “tying the tubes”, this is basically the same process in the male, the doctor just performs it on a female. These methods are usually permanent, it can be reversed, but is extremely painful.
