Birth Control Options

There are many different options for people out there to choose from in order to prevent pregnancy. Women can use things like the pill to help, and men can use the condom to help, and also prevent STDS (Sexually Transmitted Disease).

A lot of people don’t know all of the different contraceptives that are out there for people to help prevent pregnancy. The first thing that you can do to help, is something called the barrier method which is the process of preventing the sperm from entering the vulva of the woman. This can be done either on the males end, or the females end, the male can use a condom which s generally made of latex, to put over the penis, and prevent the sperms travel. The female may also use something like this which is called the diaphragm, this is something similar to the condom, but it secured to the cervical bone of the women, and allows for the vagina to be protected.

Another option out there that is becoming more, and more popular is called the physical method, this option can include a number of physical measures you can take to help prevent pregnancy. Most of the time though this option is referring to the process in which people get surgically altered in order to prevent fertilization. In males this procedure is called a vasectomy, this is the process in which  doctor will cut open the scrotum of the man, and either cut, or block the travel of sperm from the testicles. In females this procedure is commonly called “tying the tubes”, this is the process in which the doctor will, cut block, or constrict the passage that carries the sperm from the vagina to the eggs.

An option that is becoming more, and more popular is the hormonal method, this is where the birth control pill comes into play. This method is only for women, for there is not a oral hormonal method for men to take yet, in order to prevent pregnancy. The birth control pill, has become more, and more popular over the years since it first came out in the early 90’s. The hormones within the pill, progestin, and estrogen, are said to alter the reproductive organs within the female, and in which case prevents them from getting pregnant.
