Birth Control Methods

There is a wide variety of methods in the world that have been used as a contraceptive for birth control. Many people use things like latex condoms or pills, in order to prevent the fertilization process from occurring in the reproductive track of the female.

Physical Method

The physical method of preventing pregnancy, is the act of surgically altering the reproductive track so that the sperm cannot reach the egg in the vagina, and fertilize it. There are different surgical procedures that can be done in order to alter your reproductive track, both in males, and females. In males the procedure is called a vasectomy, this in the process in which the doctor cuts open the scrotum of the male, and cuts the track that carries the sperm from the testicles to the penis. The process in females is commonly known as “tying the tubes”, this is the process in which the females track is either cut, blocked, or tied in order to prevent sperm from entering.

Barrier Method

The barrier method is the most common used method to prevent pregnancy among teenagers, and adults abroad. This is the method of putting some sort of barrier, usually a condom, or a diaphragm, either over the penis or inside the vagina to prevent the sperm from entering the vulva. The diaphragm is not a commonly used barrier by females, but the condom is widely used worldwide, both to prevent pregnancy, and to help prevent the transfer of STDS (Sexually Transmitted Disease).

Hormonal Method

Finally, another commonly used method to prevent pregnancy from sexual intercourse is the hormonal method. This is the case in which many women worldwide, almost 100 million, use the oral pill called the birth control pill to hormonal effect there reproductive track. The high doses of estrogen, and progestin cause the reproductive track, and the eggs within the female to be effected so that fertilization cannot occur. There have been known side effects to occur with this process, but the effects have rarely been reported, and this process has been proven to be safe.
