Abstinence And Teens
It is true that there are many forms of birth control on the market that both men and woman are able to use. Men have the ability to use condoms and women can choose between diaphragms, the pill, IUDs, and the birth control shot. There are so many choices out there to choose from – but how effective are they?
Birth control is more often used for couples who want to start a family – but understand that right now is not the right time for them. They understand the need to wait until they are financially stable. But did you know that there are hundreds if not thousands of teens who are trying to get on birth control?
It is important to teach our teenagers about safe sex and to make sure that they understand the consequences that can come from not doing things properly. One of the best forms of birth control that you can teach to your teenagers is abstinence. This is the one birth control that helps to keep them safe from becoming pregnant – but that is not all it can do.
Those teenagers who remain abstinent do not have to worry about what diseases their sexual partner might have. They lose the risk of contracting any number of STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases) and having to treat and deal with them for the rest of their lives. By teaching them to be abstinent they can avoid:
- HIV/AIDS
- HPV
- Genital Warts
- Gonorrhea
- Bacterial Vaginosis
- Chlamydia
- Syphilis
While all of these forms of birth control can help those couples who are trying to wait they know that if by chance they are not effective and they become pregnant they have jobs and a stable education that can help them through it. It is hard for a teenage mother to finish high school and to take care of herself and her child. Too many teenage father are not even in the picture to help.
Teach your teenagers that abstinence is the best form of birth control. Teach them why it is so important for them to wait until they are in a committed relationship and have at least graduated from high school. Make their life a little bit easier.
